November 2025 Newsletter

 Greetings

We have added a vinyl covering in front of the pistol range that should make brass collection easier.  We moved the stall mats to right entry to help with collection there.

We voted to change the rules at the pistol range to allow pistol caliber carbines on that range.  Will be changing the rules online and the ones posted at range on range day. This does not not mean AK,AR or any other rifle round in a pistol type configuration. The limit is bullet speed, higher speeds spall the targets and greatly increase the blow back of bullets and jackets.

On the next range day, we will be splitting the wood behind the #3 container and stacking in the wood shed on the end of the rifle shed.  There may be some partial closures of rifle range on that day.

We will be having our Turkey Shoot on Saturday, November 22st this year.  Entry fee is $5 per gun per event. Maximum of two entries per event.  The three events are:

Rifles with scope at 200 meters free shooting at NRA chickens

Rifles with iron sights or non magnified red dots at 100 meters shooting at the large turkey necks

Pistols with iron sights or non magnified red dots shooting at small turkey necks at 50 meters.

We will have targets for 22lr at 50 meters and 100 meters and are working on ones for 200 meters, need to make and test first.

Prizes will be just turkeys this year due to large price increase in hams.  Don’t forget to thank Jacob at Newport Pawn Shop for his generous  donation of the prizes by stopping by and purchasing something.

We have a bear on the range, and we would request you take any food debris with you when you leave the range.  The bear has gotten into the trash cans looking for food.

Range managers report:

I have a few things to discuss. We have been noticing people going down range on the rifle range with their rifles still on the shooting bench and or red light not on. This is a major safety rule violation and could result in your membership being revoked. All rifles must be placed on the racks provided and not touched while people are down range.

A reminder….pick up all brass including brass that lands in the gravel. Do Not sweep your brass into the gravel area! Also when downrange please pick up loose paper targets and other debris that is on the ground. On the pistol range, please bring your cardboard targets back in after shooting.  Wet cardboard is hard to dispose of. Also don’t put live rounds and brass in the trash cans. We have red containers  for the live rounds and blue buckets for the brass.  Remember….the club belongs to all of us! Shoot well and be safe!
