Fire Arm Instructor
All Certified Firearms Instructors who wish to conduct training of any sort on the property of Big
Timber Rifle and Pistol Club must first register with the Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club Board of
Directors before commencing training. You will be required to maintain active membership, as well
as file your instructor credentials, proof of liability insurance, and a signed copy of the Big Timber
Rifle and Pistol Club Operating and Safety Annex for Private Instructors.
Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club accepts instructor credentials from either the N.R.A. or Oregon
D.P.S.S.T. Instructors may have other credentials, and may teach courses from other agencies on
Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club property, but active status certification from one of these two
agencies is required. Instructors are solely responsible for regularly updating their credentials with
the Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club Board of Directors.
Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club accepts proof of liability insurance from any legal insurer.
Effective liability policies must be for a minimum liability amount of $1,000,000 and must list Big
Timber Rifle and Pistol Club as an “additional insured” entity, or “certificate holder.” Instructors are
solely responsible for regularly updating their proof of liability insurance with the Big Timber Rifle
and Pistol Club Board of Directors.
These measures are necessary to protect the assets of the Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club and it’s
membership should there be a training or firearm related injury on the property. Should a Certified
Firearms Instructor be conducting class on Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club property without having
registered and provided (or updated) the requested materials, a Board Member or responsible
Range Safety Officer will ask the class to immediately leave. Refusal to do so, or repeated issues,
will result in loss of Big Timber Rifle and Pistol Club membership and possible legal action.
